The new web trends 2018: Dare creativity

As everyone knows, the digital world is constantly evolving from year to year, and 2018 is no exception, far from it! Take advantage of the latest innovations and web trends to bring it up to date. Here’s what will mark 2018 in web design.

1. Animation and interactivity

As we all know, customer experience is becoming increasingly important and redefines sales standards and marketing strategies. Today, it’s no longer enough to praise the quality of your products and services to attract customers. It is now necessary to know how to capture the interest, and I would even say the imagination of customers, to offer them multi-sensory experiences that will captivate them.

This new desire on the part of customers to take part in personalized experiences has been heard by web designers and that is why the animation and interactivity of websites are at the center of their strategy.

Changing colors, shapes, position and even photos: everything is possible. Everything is done to offer customers and Internet users an artistic experience that will charm them.

One of the innovations that will likely resonate with many people is without a doubt the Parallax effect. The latter has the particularity of creating an effect of depth to the different pages of your site. But if you want to stay simple then bet on graphic effects and trends.

2. The contribution of the video

As we have already mentioned in one of our previous articles, video will be an important and even a determining factor in marketing strategies in 2018. More than ever, this means of communication will be the key to exploit to seduce your customers.

This will be the perfect time to be creative and innovative. Surprise people while working on your brand and your notoriety. Attract attention while giving relevant information. That’s the challenge for this new year.

3. Online Shop

Already present on the web for a few years, online stores are still relevant as online shopping continues to increase. Having a showcase in the world of the web where it is possible to expose its products and sell them becomes a must for almost all businesses.

The benefits are many. As a first step, this gives you the opportunity to sell your products at any time of the day and night and to offer additional products during a purchase made by a customer.

Another important fact is that it also gives you a bank of information about your customers thanks to which you can then send them information about your promotions through a newsletter.

Web Trends: Dare to change

In 2018, things move a lot and you will have to do the same to stay in the race. The market is tough and companies will stop at nothing to get their share of the pie. Use creativity and dare to innovate with new web trends!

3D in your web pages

How to put interactive 3D images on a web page? What technical solutions for them to be visible by a maximum of Internet users, in other words supported by a wide range of browsers? How to implement them?

Several solutions exist, but none has yet emerged: technologies, equipment and standards are constantly changing in this area, so the choices are not obvious. To schematize, there are solutions that have proven themselves but which do not seem to have a future (Flash 3D, Java3D) and promising solutions based on standards but which are not yet universally supported (WebGL, CSS3 3D).

Flash 3D: proprietary solution (Adobe), user side requires the Flash plug-in, design side a good knowledge of ActionScript or go through a dedicated 3D Flash engine (Away3D, CopperCube …).

Java3D: open-source solution, Java API (not included in the JDK), user side requires the Java virtual machine, design side some knowledge of 3D programming or go through software like WireFusion.

The Flash plug-in and the JVM are installed on almost all (98%) desktop computers.

WebGL: open-source solution, port of the OpenGL standard for web browsers, user side requires compatible graphics card, driver and browser (more and more widespread, 70% at the time of writing this newsletter, updated info on WebGLstats), design side some knowledge of 3D programming and Javascript or go through a rendering engine exporting WebGL (CopperLicht, CopperCube …). It is actually a Javascript API that allows browsers to use the power of calculating graphics cards to display images and animations in real time via the <canvas> tag of HTML5.

SKETCHFAB: AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO LEARN …

Recently, a very practical solution has emerged that will meet the immediate needs of some people: the Sketchfab gallery.

It is a 3D model hosting service designed on the same principle as YouTube or Vimeo. You import your file in its native format and the service is responsible for posting on the Internet. You can then publish, share and integrate it into your web pages. The service is based on the WebGL standard and an alternative solution for users whose hardware configuration is not compatible.

Top 4 graphical trends for 2018

We have decided to make a Graphical Trend forecasts for 2018 and we’ll see how it works out. To be certain to recommend the most meaningful trends, we asked for the opinion of experts, whether they come from digital, design or communication. Between algorithms, VR, vibrant colors, authenticity and refusal of design, the year promises to be exciting!

1. The return of the reasons

According to experts the patterns – or patterns for English speakers – “are experiencing a revival in all forms: from classical dress to the setting in motion. This is indeed gaining in popularity and can be noticed on many new websites designs.

2. Vibrant colors at Spotify

This is the trend of the year, which the majority of interviewees spontaneously cited. A reference that set the tone: Spotify, and its new identity … dating yet from 2015 we might see more and more vibrant colors coming to website as the year passes by.

3. Algorithm or creative coding design

For Tristan Macherel, Executive Creative Director at Landor Paris, and president of the Design Jury at the Cannes Lions in 2016, there is “a fundamental trend that designers are not sufficiently trained in: the creation through algorithms, 3D, creative coding “. New techniques that come out of Adobe’s usual Creative Cloud suite (until a future update?) Taught in schools. In view, the creation of identity, packagings that are based on the visualization of data. The idea is not here to digitize forcefully “physical products, the concrete, the touch that people always seek” but to bring innovation behind the scenes, meaningful. Tristan Macherel voluntarily quotes “the home page of Google, layout very simple, and very colorful logo. This almost childish interface masks yet one of the most powerful algorithms in the world.

4. The movement

The interfaces will come alive more and more thanks to the new technical possibilities and the talent of the developers. This is a real plus for the user experience, with some surprises, as well as remedies for “wait-time anxiety” – as time passes by more and more website will be interactive and will fill in the waiting time gap for those impatients of the net.

web design Mauritius

Web Design Mauritius in 2017

Web design is halfway between form and functionality. It is therefore logical that new trends are largely influenced by technology, be it devices, operating systems, browsers or program libraries available on the market. But the recent aspirations of today’s graphic designers go even further, they also influence the very principles and philosophies of design. Recent years have been marked by unprecedented technological advances, including:

The democratization of mobile phones

The appearance of integrated dynamic 3D interface (via WebGL) The adoption of HTML5, CSS3 and the rise of JavaScript frameworks. As well as the increase of the speed of internet download (on computer as on mobile).

Together, these technological advances have created a real turning point in the history of web design, particularly with the emergence of adaptive sites (“responsive” in English) and more generally, mobile oriented designs.

In terms of aesthetics, we cannot ignore the supreme reign of flat design, three years ago. Then it was Google’s turn to introduce Material Design to push us further towards abstract design. In 2017, we have seen that the trends bring us a little closer to reality: 2017 has been the year of hybrids, in forms as well as in colors or functionality, where technology and reality come together to create experience so far unequaled.

Without further ado, here are the 3 trends that we believe have wreaked havoc this year:

1. Menus that defy any navigation paradigm

Since the archaic birth of web design (that is to say, 20 years ago), we have seen two types of navigation: top (menu bar at the top) and sidebar (menu bar at the sides). It was the arrival of responsive design that led to the arrival of the hamburger menu. What would you say to us?

2. Simply delete the menu

No need to tell users how to navigate a website. They know the principle of scrolling and will use it instinctively until they find the information they are looking for. Some graphic designers have chosen to remove almost all menus and let users evolve freely.

3. Adopt the hamburger button and forget everything else

Instead of designing two different menus, one for the desktop version and the other for the mobile version, many websites opt for hamburger navigation. Since the designers realized that it is no longer necessary to occupy space on the screen with a navigation bar. Of course, you do not have to put a hamburger icon … We are seeing more and more graphic designers play on typography to indicate to users where to click to access the menu.

Web Design Mauritius: 2017 on the Web!

Web design remains one field that is always evolving. Meaning that you always have to upgrade your site to fit the current generation of features. This year began loudly on the web design side of things – three dominant features are ruling new designs and this is what our article is all about. Here are the three trends to keep an eye on this year and to maybe add on to your website to be on the trendy side of things.

A video to replace images

The display of large-format video clips to replace banner images is a good way to boost a website. Increasing the speed of web connections allows us to integrate more and more media items in better resolution. The html5 video tags allow us to easily integrate them and ensure a good cross-browser compatibility. The only barrier to this trend: Apple mobile devices do not support automatic video playback to preserve battery life.

“Landing pages”

One very common feature being used nowadays remains the Landing Page. Landing pages allow several companies with a smaller budget to maintain a high-quality presence on the Web. They also allow a company that already has a web presence to launch a targeted campaign or online offensive and increase the conversion of visits – thus not only increasing their visibility but also increasing their gain in clients.

Endless-scroll pages

Web pages without a scroll bar presenting all the content inside the initial window are becoming more and more popular. The scrolling action is often re-used in these pages to advance the content, which is built as a story or timeline. On these pages, you will often find a multitude of animations and transitions to reveal the content. These pages look like a book or a brochure and cause a wow effect.

WEB DESIGN: Edge the new browser from Microsoft!

edge browser

Edge is the new Microsoft browser (code name: Spartan). It will be released with Windows 10 whose launch is announced for July 29. The publisher has Edge as a new generation of browser, powerful, innovative, and especially designed for the modern web. It is already possible to test it in beta by downloading the Windows 10 desktop Preview, or Windows 10 beta Mobile (designed for smartphones and tablets). Edge will not replace Microsoft Internet Explorer completely, but will be offered as an alternative to it. It will be integrated with Windows 10 alongside IE that will remain present in the desktop version of the OS.

A browser that is more efficient than Chrome and Firefox

Microsoft insists on the optimization work conducted around the motor of its browser. Objective: To accelerate the implementation of websites, including improved JavaScript JIT compiler Chakra. According to the publisher, the optimization allow Edge to go well beyond the JavaScript execution performance of Chrome and Firefox. In support of its analysis, it highlights the results recorded by the browser during the Jet Stream tests (developed by Apple) and Octane 2.0 (proposed by Google).

The results of the Jet Stream test states that Microsoft Edge runs web applications 1.6 times faster than Internet Explorer 11. According Octane test, it would even be 2 times more efficient in this exercise as its predecessor. Both comparisons were made with a variation of browserst on an HP machine (equipped with Windows 10) with 12 GB of RAM and a next generation processor (Intel Core i7 860 CPU clocked at 2.80GHz).

Cortana Integration

Microsoft has also integrated the browser Cortana. Limited for now to the beta of Microsoft Edge in the US version of Windows 10, the personal voice assistant allows particularly the pushing of content associated with current web page view. If it is the site of a company, Cortana may propose a route to the office of that company from your location, associated content, or trace a contact of this company you have saved in your phone book.

Support extensions

Another major change compared to Internet Explorer was announced: Microsoft Edge will support the extensions. In April, the group hit hard by announcing that extensions designed for Firefox and Chrome can be worn under Edge with minor changes.

And for web site developers?

Initially, Microsoft Edge must be fitted with the MSHTML rendering engine (based on Trident), to ensure browser compatibility with sites designed for older versions of IE. This is what Microsoft has indicated in a post published on January 22. It will eventually be the case. In a post on 24 March, Microsoft said it had changed its mind. Edge will be limited to EdgeHTML new engine designed by the American group to support the latest web standards. The publisher also emphasizes the work of its teams to support these standards “on the model of other modern browsers.”

Why should companies invest in SEO?

business-seo

seo

Nowadays, most companies know the wisdom behind investing into developing solid, SEO optimized web infrastructure that is search-engine friendly in order to successfully compete online. Having a solid and well-thought of SEO strategy is all but a necessity.

Given the engines’ continued improvement of their algorithm systems over time, companies have no other choices left than to invest into SEO to compete online.

In this jungle of investors and competitors, having the best product or services does not mean anything without visibility. In order to prove yourself, you have to be visible to the world. If a company does not invest into SEO, how will the world know what they have to offer?

Master planned SEO campaigns are the success factor for billion dollars companies. How a product or service went from an unknown status to a world known buzz can all be due to SEO.

“Search Engine Optimization is the advertising of the 21st century.”

SEO vs PPC?

Unlike PPC, companies don’t have to pay everytime someone clicks on a link. PPC can prove to be spammy. It is well known that 80% of people click on natural results rather than on paid advertising campaign. The reason may be simple as the more authority a website has, the higher it will be in the Search Engine’s Results Page. And to get a website higher up in the SERP, nothing is as much effective as SEO.  Search Engine Optimization will do nothing less than improving your brand name.

Specific reasons why your companyshould definitely consider investing in SEO:

  1. It still works – Firstly, the techniques used to improve a website’s SEO still works! Even though Google only recently removed data regarding organic traffic, the techniques employed still prove themselves to be extremely effective.
  2. It is not going to stop working any time soon – The never ending race of the search engines to improve their ranking systems will not end this soon. The biggest shark out there- Google- plays big, regularly improving its algorithm. It is not likely that SEO will stop being effective in the foreseeable future. Even audio and video searches ultimately depend on keywords the same as traditional text-based content; this link ensures the continued success of SEO techniques as long as it exists.
  3. SEO is cost-effective –As compared to other forms of online marketing such as PPC advertising, social media marketing, or purchasing leads for an e-mail marketing program, SEO ranks first when it comes to return of investment. While PPC may drive more revenue and social media may be more important for your image, your organic SEO in many ways remains foundation of your online presence.
  4. Search engines grabbing more market share – In In this internet era, about 80-90% of customers read online reviews before making a purchase. This number is only forecasted to increase.  It won’t take long before virtually everyone is searching for products and services online. Do you want them to be able to locate your company or not?  Without a well planned organic SEO strategy in place, users will have a very hard time finding you and will instead find your competitors themselves using SEO.
  5. Rise of mobile bandwidth and local search optimization – With an increased amount of Smartphone users, traffic delivered to mobile devices is expected to exceed that delivered to traditional desktop devices. With this explosion in mobile usage, a whole new world of effective SEO techniques have opened up for companies, such as local search optimization.
  6. Not having a healthy content profile is damaging –As mentioned earlier above, with each and every update to its search algorithms, Google and other engines change the way they look at websites with each updates. Things which didn’t exist a few years ago, such as social media indicators, are now given fairly high importance in terms of their impact on your rankings. Not building a healthy content profile spread out months and years is potentially damaging to your business, as it is one of the factors Google take into consideration when ranking your companies’ site.
  7. Your competitors are doing it – Remember, SEO is a never-ending process. If you’re not moving forward and improving your position, you’re losing ground to a competitor who is. That’s a simple fact of how the process works. Don’t let your competitors out maneuver you by ignoring this valuable tool for your business.

Pertaining to the number of online businesses, investing in organic SEO is more important nowadays than ever before. Companies should choose sound SEO companies for the current trouble everyone finds themselves facing concerning the lack of organic keyword data and traffic. Your company absolutely needs to have an SEO strategy in place if you are interested in succeeding in terms of online marketing. It remains one of the single most important components of any organization’s branding efforts and online presence.

Search Engine Optimization: How to?

SEO-web-companies

web-companies.com Search Engine Optimization

What is Search Engine Optimization?

Basically, Search Engine Optimization or simply SEO is all about helping websites rank higher on the organic (or “natural) search results of search engines.

The higher the site ranks, the more visitors and hence the more customers you will get!

Search Engine optimization is the art of building a website in such a way so as to please both the customer and the search engine.

Why do we need Search Engine Optimization?

We live in an internet era in which consumers can tune through the surfeit of information. As matter of fact, 92% internet users use search engines on which a stunning amount of 100 Billion web searches are being carried out every month and 78 % buyers use search engines before buying their products.

Being visible on the internet will have no other effects than increasing your sales and hence your revenues.

Having good content, information, architecture, content management system and website infrastructure are ways of generating traffic on your website.

This is what exactly Search Engine Optimization is about.

How search engines work?

Search Engines have a prime objective which is to convey the most relevant of information for a search query. The most relevant the search results are to the user, the happier will he be. The happier the user will be, higher will be the probability the user come back to the same search engine again.

In order for the search engine to deliver the right information at the right time, they need to have a proper means of gathering and prioritizing contents on a website. This process is called indexing.

Search Engines have systems called algorithm that will enable them to spit out the proper website at user’s demand. Every search engines have their own algorithms. But elementally, four factors are considered.

Search engines actually attempt to scan the entire online universe and index all the information so they can show it to you when you enter a search query.

How will Search Engines rank your website?

Search engine Optimizers will use a series of strategies. These strategies and the structure of the webpage will influence the way the site behaves in search engines.

Below we will discuss about some of these tactics.

1.     Keywords

keywordwebcompanies

keywords

In SEO context, keywords are particular terms/ labels or phrases that describe the content of a webpage.  Keywords are of prime importance in search engine optimization since they will be describing the contents of your website.

Choosing the right keywords is of prime importance. For example, a website about parachuting should contain keywords related only to parachuting. If only a small amount of words related to parachuting is mentioned on the website, the search engine will not display the website when websites relating to parachuting is being searched for.

The most pertinent and consequently the most significant keywords on a website will be these keywords which will appear the most often across the website!

To be able to stand out against competitors offering the same service, you imperatively need to understand exactly what the users are searching for and base your keywords upon these.

2.      Page Title

Metatitle-web-companies

Example of a Meta Title

Statistics show that about 48% of search engine users will click on a search result based on the Page Title as seen on the Search Engine Results Page. In simple terms, the Page Title is the first thing that the user will see on the Results Page.

Based on the Page Title, the user will decide either to visit the page or not. It is highly recommended to include the brand name and specific keywords in the Page Title to make the webpage as relevant as possible.

The Page Title should be distinct for each page of your website and characteristic of that particular page.

3.      Meta Descriptions

Metadescription-web-companies

Example of Meta Description

Meta Descriptions define the content of the website as it appears on the Search Engine Results Page. Meta Description includes a short description of the website. It should be rich of keywords which best suits what the website is about.

The more interesting the description, the more will the user want to click on the link to find out additional information. Meta Description has a big effect on the click rate of a website and hence must be given a serious thought.

If the Meta Description is not enough specific and is not well written, then there is a huge chance that the website is ignored!

4.     Content

Creating attractive and captivating content is one of the most weighing factors of a website. A website’s content should be descriptive about its activity. For example a website about football should contain content related to football and not to Cooking.

If users find useful information on a website they might share that information via social media, blogs, email or other ways, increasing the popularity of the website.

Content should be well organized, that is, avoid dumping large paragraphs people would not want to read or follow.  Content should be easy to read and follow and as much as possible unique to captivate the users.

It should also contain a good keyword density. Copy-Paste content will only make your website ranking go down or even be black-listed from search Engines.

5.     URL Structure

A website’s URL should be relevant and inherent. Good practice is to make sure that the URL contains keywords in them and not incomprehensible alphabets, numbers or punctuation marks. Doing so it will be easier for search engines to crawl the website leading to a better website ranking.

Remember that URLs are displayed on the Search Engines Results page and that words in the URL will bolden if it was in the user’s query.

6.      Images and Alt Text

Adding Alt text to your images will enable search engines to find your website in image searches. If your image has Alt Text corresponding to the image, it may be that the user will want to visit the website. The Alt text should be as descriptive and accurate as possible.

7.     Site architecture

Most websites are sectioned, they contain a home page, main and sub sections. This enables the users find their way easier. The overall layout of the website is known as the site architecture.

A good site structure will direct the user more easily to the information he is looking for.

Site architecture should be well sectioned and not contain too much sub sections. The greater the number the subsections, the least probability this content will appear on search results.

8.     Linking

  • Link Exchange

Links can be exchanged with websites relating to the same services (commonly referred as Thematic link Exchange). Exchanging links may increase a website’s popularity as it tends to show that a website is serving as a reference for a particular content.

Before doing link exchange, you should consider some of these factors:

1. Try get links from authority websites from the same niche.

2. Review the link building strategies of your competitors employ and think about how you can devise better quality strategies. Don’t build links just to build links, or just to copy somebody else.

3. Join social networks, to get your content noticed by the people most likely to share your type of content and to build your personal network.

4. Get links from relevant sites, to build good domain authority.

5. Focus on quality link building techniques and strategies to avoid future unnatural links notices in Google Webmaster Tools which will be followed by penalties.

6. Don’t spam people with mails and do not share too much of your publicity on social medias. It can become harassing.

7. If you want others to link you, you got to link others too.

8. Don’t link too much in a short time lapse.

  • Link Baiting

Link baiting is placing the link of the website’s content you published on your page. If you do this for others and others do this for you, your website popularity will increase.

  • Cross-Linking

Also known as internal linking, it is the practice of placing links to internal pages of a website. Cross-linking is also a major factor of Google Page Rank Algorithm. One SEO good practice is lking a keyword as anchor text to the internal content of a website.

9.     Site map XML

An XML sitemap will provide Search Engine crawlers a list of all the pages so as to discover new or updated content. The poor architecture of many webpage makes it difficult for crawlers to find pages. An XML sitemap is a good way for crawlers to do so.

XML Sitemaps are very essential, and according to the site’s nature, specialized sitemaps for News, Image, Video and Mobile may really improve your indexation results.

10.Metadata

In simple terms, metadata is data about data. Some Search engines, like Google, don’t “read” your content (data). Information collected from the defined metadata fields will be used for indexing.

To increase the probabilities of your content being located in response to a search query, add appropriate metadata, such as a search engine title, description, keywords, copyright and event dates. Use tagging (interest categories) to mark items intended for dynamic display.

11.Pagination

As a website grows in term of content, it is far too bulky and difficult to display all the results on the same page. Pagination is here to help.

Pagination is dividing all these contents into different pages so that there is a better fluidity of use for the user.

Good SEO practice demands that content is accessible with the least number of “clicks”. The fewer the number of “clicks”, the fewer the bounce rate, resulting in a higher page rank. The converse is also true.

12.Robots.txt

It is a text file that webmasters create to serve as a guide for search engines robots to crawl and index website pages.  For example, if there exists a duplicate of a page one version of which is used for printing and the other version for reading, it may be possible that due to that duplicate, the search engine impose a penalty upon the website.

The robots.txt file is a good practice since it will tell the search engine robot which files and folders to avoid on your website.

13.Google Authorship

Google authorship is the photo and byline which appear on search results pages. The match with Google+ profiles creates verified links between content on the web and the creators of the content.

This gives Google the ability to establish quality, human-created content and distinguish it from non useful content. It results on better page ranking and less copy-paste content as authors claim their authorship.

14.Multiple languages

Multiple languages of the same content or website can be used to target a broader audience and generate more visits to the site.

15.Mobile Web Development

Mobile web browsing represents a huge potential. In fact, 46.0% of internet users use their mobile phones to search the web. A large number of websites are not suited for mobile phones.

Offsite

1.     Anchor Text

Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink (generally of different color from the text). Anchor text should be eye catching and Good SEO practice demands that the anchor text be relevant to the content it is pointing to.

2.     Social Networking

Link Building is a major factor taken in consideration by Search Engines Algorithm as mentioned above. Through link building, Search Engine will recognize if other pages on the web deem your website as a reference for content and information.

Social Networking is one of the best means of link building. By creating attractive and original content, users will tend to share your content. The most your link is being shares, the most visible your link will be to search engines hence the greater the popularity.

3.     Press release

One of the best ways to directly reach journalists, consumers and influencers is through press release. Many of the world’s biggest news companies have press released fed into their system.

Press release can be used to add links and hence drive traffic to a website and increase visibility in Search and social media.

4.     Micro sites

A micro site is a web page or a group of web pages that is separate from a main website but in some sense is used to point to the same webpage. Microsite contents tend to be more specific from the broadness of content of the main site.

Hence Microsites help in the way that they help users reach information more quickly. They are mainly used to direct towards the main website.

5.     Blogs and Forums

Many people will try troubleshooting their problems through forum discussions. This is because forums serve as a good reference for certain topics due to their specificity and the number of people interacting.

If you provide good and exact information on forums, your website could serve as a reference for certain topics hence increasing your popularity.

Writing a blog for your company is a way to publish unique content. Blog content should be unique and attractive, so that users may want to share. Blogs can also be promoted by posting or commenting in service-related blogs. By doing so, links can be share. As explained above, the more links you share, the more your visibility!

6.     Article Directories

Articles can be created and submitted to article directories (like ehow, hubpages, and examiner). Anchor text and links can be added to make them point towards a website.

7.    Photo Sharing

Publish interesting photos so people can share, comment on them. This can drive a lot of traffic towards a websites. Photo sharing websites like Flickr, Picasa, Photo Bucket, Picli, or instagram can be used.

Linked with photo sharing, video promotions, experts opinion and product reviews can be made public on sites like Youtube.

HTTPS

Google, the world’s most famous Search Engine provider recently announced that going HTTPS (i.e. adding a SSL 2048-bit key certificate on your site) will give it a minor ranking boost.

For now Google announced that it has less than 1% impact than all other algorithms but that they may strengthen it to encourage websites from shifting from HTTP to HTTPS. All this is in a vision to make the web safer.

Tracking Down Results

Tracking down results is of prime importance. The more traffic you drive to your website, the more is your customer potential. To do the thing well, you must have the right metrics in place, have constant monitoring, and make accurate adjustments to raise the numbers.

First of all, a baseline should be established in order to improve your SEO. You should first know where you are in order to know where you are heading to! There are many free or paid tools which will enable you to do so.

What do you need to track down?

1.     Keyword Performance and Ranking

google-glasses

What is Google Glass?

Google glass is a wearable technology with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). That revolutionary smart eyewear looks like its buzzing many people around until they experience the awfully nice sensation of wearing it.

It displays information just like conventional Smartphone does but in a hands-free holographic format via a small prism found on the frame. Unlike casual Smartphone information is input through voice commands instead of the traditional input methods (Touch screen or keys).

How does Google Glass work?

Google Glass interface uses voice commands as well as an integrated button which facilitates the execution of certain commands. The message “Ok glass” is the most common one you see, it activates as you tilt your head up or tap the side.

The device runs on Android 4.4.2, has an OMAP 4430 SoC, dual-core CPU with 1GB of RAM and a total storage capacity of 16GB out of which only 12GB are usable.

Google glass also comes fitted with an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, an ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

Google offers a companion Android and iOS app called MyGlass, which allows the user to configure and manage the device.

What does Google Glass look like?

Google Glass has got an amazing design andconsists mainly of a 50g titanium frame stem which house all the computing components. Due to its light weight, the device sits comfortably on your face like a regular pair of glasses. There are no actual lenses except for a little prism on the side.

The frame is actually unfoldable and the right side of it is house for the battery and electronics: buttons, touch pad and speaker.

Google glass is a very much style-oriented device and it should be as a wearable tech, and it is one of the main reasons Google has had a particular attention in the colors, the frame build. Google is now also on the move trying to implement the device to normal glass frames, sunglasses and other head gears.

What does Google Glass Do?

Typically, Smartphone components are present in Google Glass as it runs on Android but for the time being can only run about 50 apps officially which include Shazam and livestream. To give glass its full functionality it needs to be connected to an android or iOS Smartphone either via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It can work alone too like a disconnected offline camera.

For now, Google Glass can only perform 7 operations on its own.

1.      Take a picture

Google Glass camera shoots 5-megapixel, each picture has a 2528 x 1856 resolution comparable to that of an iphone 4.

Taking a Picture with Google Glass

Google Glass has three ways to immortalize your best moments:

  1. The first one is using the voice command which is “Okay Glass, take a picture” will take a picture on the spot.
  2. More interestingly, Google experimental eye blinking will also do the job.
  3. Finally pressing the camera button found at the top of the hardware.

All three methods will allow bringing the viewfinder and bringing up four L-shaped corners enabling you to take the perfect shot.

4.      Record a video

Combined with its 720p quality and 5MP camera, Google Glass provides a first person shooting experience which is quite unique and is one of the most interesting features of glass. On the other hand it may appear to be invasive as it is always pointing towards people. It may be an obstacle to privacy and even before its launch; Google Glass has already been banned in some public places.

5.      Phone calls

In order to receive phone calls, Google Glass needs to be connected to a Smartphone as it does not yet contain any sim card slot. Users will be able to answer their call either by voice command or by simply pressing the button.

6.      Send a message

Google Glass will show you text messages as well as emails you receive and allow you to reply to them via voice commands.

7.      Get directions

Another interesting feature of glass is that it has Google maps integrated. So users will now be able to get directions or their journey via voice commands.

8.      Google+ Hangouts

Google Glass can also engage in FaceTime-like on Google Hangouts but exclusively via Wi-Fi.

9.      Google.

Browsing the web has been made easier with voice command and the interesting part about google glass is that it integrates all googling experience.

What does it looks like when wearing it?

It is hard to accurately describe Google Glass wearing experience but basically, looking through glass will reveal a 25 inch display eight feet away. Testers have come to the final conclusion that the floating screen does not reveal to be obtrusive or distractive at all.

Even when the screen is “on” and with the semi- transparent screen you can still see what you are looking at.

Since the glass prism is positioned over the right eye only, the binocular effect your brain uses to form a clear picture is not present and conclusively the screen appears to be more of a ghost screen.

Testers recommended taking break to prevent any damage.

What does Google Glass cost?

Google glass was made available to Google I/O developers on April 2013 for 1500$. As google glass is still being on beta testing, American citizens over the age of 18 are able to join the open beta for Glass.

Google glass can also be fitted into prescription glasses provided by Google for $225 but are free with the purchase of a new glass unit. For the time being, only four choices of frame are possible.

Where to get Google Glass?

Google glass is still to be announced to the general public, and for now is only available on the UK and US markets.

Google is glass is undoubtedly a giant’s leap into the world of wearable communication devices. This new form factor will lead others in the improvement of these types of device. For now, all this condensed up technology gives only one envy- Give it a try!
